I won't allow limb ripping terror to be a part of the violence. Isn't it everyone's job though, to learn to suppress them? Violent games most likely CANtrigger violent tendencies in humans. Should he be a violent person, I would not be writing in the same manner would I? Hopefully I would be trying to curb it. When confronted and struck in the face by a teen older but smaller, he pulled the Tshirt over the kid's head and said he could have pulverized him, then let him go.
He is the most non violent young teen I know. His education, friendships, fresh air and exercise have to come first as well so he isn't addicted. He is also required to volunteer by myself, his school and his Scout troupe to be a compassionate human who cares about others in reality. I remind him often that violent video games are what the military uses for soldiers to desensitize. 3 of his grandparents and 2 great grandparents were in WW2 and 1 and today he is in an honour guard at the Cenotaph. As he turned a teen, I did allow him to play some violent games, but with parental guidance and disclaimers that war is anything but fun. Reality is, the world is filled with violence and war. We raise each child differently and I tried hard to keep the violence from my son. I didn't read other's comments, because there seems to be debate i don't care to partake in, so these are my views, not comments on what someone else said. Let's remember them in between those times, as well. And many of us will take at least a moment tomorrow to remember them on Veterans Day.
